Tax-Filing Deadline Pushed Back to July 15, 2020

Tax Day Pushed Back to July 15

The IRS has made an official announcement of filing deadline postponement. The filing date for 2019 federal income tax returns and 2020 federal income tax estimates are postponed to July 15, 2020. Individuals and businesses will have an extra three months to file and make payments without incurring interest and penalties. And there is no limitation on the amount of the payment that may be postponed.

In light of the U.S. Department of Treasury's postponement of the due dates for both filing federal income tax returns and making income tax payments, the due dates for reporting and paying Arizona individual, corporate, and fiduciary income taxes for Calendar Year 2019 that were previously due on April 15, 2020 are also extended to Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

Other state and local tax and revenue departments provide similar tax relief in response to the novel coronavirus. Please refer to State Tax Filing Guidance for Coronavirus Pandemic published by AICPA.
